The Demolition of Unity Square in Nottingham is Underway

What is known locally as an “eyesore” in Nottingham and having stood derelict for quite some time previously, TRD began the demolition of Unity Square in July 2017.

The demolition will make way for a newly regenerated area with new building developments such as housing, retail estate, and a new hotel, planned to commence in January 2018.

Councillor Jon Collins, leader of the City Council, said: “Unity Square is an area with great potential, being so close to the main local and national transport links and in an area the city council has driven regeneration in.

“Attracting investors and developers like Sladen Estates & Peveril Securities who share our ambitions and aspirations for the city show that our work to regenerate the gateway into the city for thousands of visitors a year has been worthwhile, and is beginning to attract the kind of outside investment needed to boost Nottingham’s offer and profile.”

Similar redevelopment work, which forms part of the same regeneration initative in Nottingham began recently on the Broadmarsh Car Park and Bus Station.

The regeneration initiative can only be seen as a positive change for the residents of Nottingham and the results will no doubt make a better first impression on visitors to the city once all of the work has been completed. An artisit's impression of what the future of Unity Square could look like can be seen here.
